Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you–– 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
- Rejoice, when? Always.
- Pray, when? without ceasing.
- In what or how many things give thanks? In everything.
WHY we need to rejoice always, to pray without ceasing, and to give thanks in everything? Because it is the WILL of God in Christ Jesus for us––baam!
No matter what you are going through, whether you lost a major deal or broke a relationship, lost a job or going through some tough time in the family, the sooner you shift your thoughts and feelings from self to Jesus the better off or sooner you will be healed.
It is hard to remember when you are in the midst of it but that’s why we have scriptures like 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, reminds us to rejoice always, to pray without ceasing and to give thanks in everything.
But again your mind and flesh will tell you the opposite. It’s up to you to choose to obey your flesh or the Word of God.
I can testify how many times I found myself in some troubling situations where I just want to sleep and hope the sun won’t come out sooner. But those were the shorter nights and very long days. I had no escape but to deal with pain. In the midst of them, the spirit will remind me about God. How He felt when His Son was crucified for our sins. How painful it was for Him to see the people He love to rebel against Him over and over again. A good example is Psalm 78. Every time I read that Psalm, I can’t help but cry for the Lord. And the very things the Israelites did we are doing today. Yes, Jesus saved us so we be holy as He is holy but most of us abuse the grace of God. And if He is the same yesterday, today and forever that means He feels the same way today as He felt with the Israelites when we take for granted His kindness.
Don’t wonder any longer, what is the will of God for you––rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in everything. Your life will never be the same. Amen.
