How can I or Anybody in a World live without Christ

I am writing this on Monday, September 11/2017 this week instead of my regular schedule on Tuesdays in remembrance of one of the darkest day in America’s history. I also found it is appropriate praying for Florida, Texas and other areas facing or cleaning up after the storm.

When 911 attacks happened I was not living in America. We didn’t even own Television sets. And it came about 4 years following the United States embassies attacked in nearly simultaneous truck bomb explosions in two East African cities, one at the United States Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the other at the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.

At that time also amid evil that shook my homeland I wasn’t living in Dar es salaam. My family had moved to Malawi as missionaries. Those three events in Dar es salaam, Nairobi then four years later in the States displayed the continuation of the works of the thief. Jesus said “The thief comes not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

Therefore, In light of 911, Harvey, and now Irma’s destructions, I found myself asking this very question ” How can I or anybody in a world live without Christ?” How can I even take another breath without Him? “For in Him I live and move and have my own being...” (Acts 17:28). Without Jesus Christ, you are a dead man walking.

The question came about waking up from a dream this morning. In that dream, my mom and I had an unpleasant conversation. She was rough on me in ways I’ve never experienced before from her. Philippians 6:4 says “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord

On one hand, I understood she is my mother in that she deeply cares about me. On the other hand, it’s the way she delivered her message that left me wrecked. I didn’t get a chance to answer her before I got up from the dream.

When I woke up and realized I was dreaming (phew!), I laughed at it because I love my mom. I was grateful it was just a dream at the same time I knew it was a direct attack from the enemy. Jesus said in the book of Matthew 10:34 “Don’t suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” He went on to say in verse 35 “For I have come to turn”’a man against His father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother in-law..‘“

My mom meant well but the enemy was using her spirit to provoke my spirit. Of course, the dream was designed to ruin my day. And if you think I am delusional, I beg to differ. Proverbs 6:22 speaking of God’s angels says “When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.” Psalm 91:11 says “For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.”

Now whether you agree with me or not, I chose my anchor. I am building my life on the foundation laid in the Word of God. The Bible is my final authority. It is my GPS to life and godliness. I scroll down in its pages on every situation to receive instructions. I started this lifestyle little less than four years ago and I’ve never been happier. I used to live my life based on my head, feelings, the economy, sometimes I based on hurricanes and I am testifying to you today, this life I now live is the way we were meant to live.

Now, how many of you would dream of something that ends up being a destruction in real life? In other words, you had a dream that made you feel sad, or fearful. It perhaps made you worry, stressed even depressed. Sometimes those feelings can be disturbing for days driving you to a doctor’s office. But it all started in the dream which went on to steal the quality of your life. This is what the attack in my dream this morning was meant for. I am happy to report that it failed.

The devil is capable of assaulting people in their sleep. You may say; you’ve just claimed: “the angels watch over you when you sleep!” It is true. They watch over me all the time however, I slept when I wasn’t supposed to. The Lord woke me up at 5:25 A.M to hear my voice. I obeyed and laid my requests before Him yet, instead of waiting expectantly, I felt like laying down at 7:11 A.M until 8: A.M and it was during those 50 minutes when I encountered the devil. Obviously, the angels were not ordered to watch me at that time because I supposed not go back to bed.

The Lord forgave me because He is full of compassion.  He strengthened me and made me laugh at the face of the enemy. And since I have Jesus Christ in my heart I have everything. When I got up, I went straight to apologize to Him and we laughed together mocking the devil “is that all you got?”

This whole thing revealed to me how precious Christ is in my life. I saw God’s goodness, mercifulness, loving kindness, faithfulness as if I read another page in the book He wrote to us. The life in Him is an ending revelation of Himself and all you have to do is start reading the Book. His grace is truly amazing.

The more I open those pages, the more I know Him and the more He shows me things we need to work on so I can be like Him. The more I trust Him the greater my faith becomes and the more I realize I cannot do life without Him-I love Jesus. I am in love with Him. My life without Him is not only impossible but also meaningless.

You may wonder how did I live before He re-introduced Himself to me almost four years ago? The answer is I lived like any carnal person. I lived my days consumed in futility and my years in fear. That’s how I existed.

911, Harvey, Irma’s devastations bring all of us down to this: every breath we take gives us an opportunity to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ. I wanna invite you to do that right now. It’s not a complex process. It’s not what you heard on TV “send us money first then God will forgive you.” No–it is as simple as an example we find in the book of Acts 2:37-39 “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Peter preached boldly on the day of Pentecost. 3,000 souls gave their lives to Jesus on that day. They were “cut to the heart” by the truth. They saw how sinful they were and how hopeless they were without Christ.

You don’t need to wait until it’s too late. Repent and you will be forgiven on the spot. Open your Bible and read what Peter preached starting verse 14 all the way to 39. Ask God to forgive your sins and Jesus to come into your heart. Join a local Bible believing church and tell the pastor you have chosen (it’s a choice) to live for Christ. They will help you. You can also email me.

May the Spirit of the Lord lead you to repentance. Amen!

30 seconds word of encouragement to those going through devastation from hurricane Harvey, Irma and now Maria:

The Lord says today, Jesus said, if you build your house on a foundation on Him it can survive any storm. I want you to know that even when everything seems to go wrong. If your life is rooted in Christ, that you are steadfast in Him. God can take any situation and turn it to good. God can use painful hard places in our lives to bring us places we will never go any other way.

So be encouraged that even though it seems there is no hope, put your focus on Christ and He will never disappoint you.
